Placement Manager
£35k p.a. FTE part-time (2-3 days a week)
Location: initially remote working but to be hybrid based in W/NW/SW London.
We are looking for a Placement Manager to join our enthusiastic and friendly team. Help Counselling Centre is a small Mental Health charity providing one-to-one counselling, both in person and online. We are also a well-established training placement provider for trainee counsellors and psychotherapists studying with prestigious training providers in London.
About Help
Help Counselling is well-established Mental Health Charity with a heritage of over 50 years. We provide training placements for clinical supervisors, counsellors and psychotherapists who need to gain clinical experience to qualify (or further qualify) and be registered with one of the industry professional bodies such as, BACP or UKCP. For ethical reasons, the work trainee counsellors / psychotherapists do is unpaid, i.e., they must volunteer their time.
This volunteer model enables Help to fulfil its charitable aim of providing low-cost counselling services. It can take between 3-5 years to qualify, and our training placements are for minimum of 12 months meaning we can also provide clients with long-term help. The blend of low-cost and long-term talking therapy is much needed in a time of increasing demand for mental health support and increasing complexity of presenting issues.
About the job
Reporting to the Help Director, the job is to ensure the smooth and effective running of the training placement process in line with BACP requirements.
This will include providing clinical support and expertise to the Help Director; managing and assuring the quality of the counsellor recruitment process; handling counsellor issues; overseeing weekly client allocations and reallocations; handling queries and managing relationships with clients, counsellors and supervisors; reviewing and enhancing clinical policies.
Currently our client volumes are between 250-350, we have approximately 90 counsellors and clinical team of approximately 20.
We operate a number of cloud-based IT systems and have outsourced HR and Finance functions.
Key responsibilities
· Provide clinical support and expertise to the Help Director as required.
· Manage and oversee process of new counsellor recruitment, ensuring all new counsellors are interviewed and vetted against a suitable set of standards and controls.
· Manage paperwork required by Training Organisations in relation to Trainee Counsellors at the beginning and during their placement.
· Being available to support Trainee Counsellors on clinical placement with Help.
· Manage the Cause for Concern’ procedure with Trainee Counsellors and Supervisors as and when they arise. This will include ensuring appropriate record-keeping and taking appropriate action to ensure counsellors are working safely and within the BACP ethical framework.
· Provide a point of escalation for client, counsellor or supervision queries.
· Manage and oversee weekly client allocations and reallocations.
· Manage any queries raised from Assessments and manage any declined clients
· Assist in the periodic review and creation of appropriate clinical policies and procedures. Provide input into policies and procedures based on changes to best practice guidelines issued by professional bodies.
The Candidate
Education & experience: Counselling or Psychotherapy Qualification, BACP or UKCP professional membership, 3-5 years' post-qualification experience. Experience of working within a training environment within the same industry highly desirable.

What are we looking for?
Sue Lambert Trust are looking for a resilient and experienced counsellor ready to take on the challenge of a leadership and management role within an organisation passionate about offering a kind, safe and supportive therapeutic service to survivors of sexual abuse and violence. In this role you would be responsible for the professional development of our team of counsellors as well as supporting both trainee and experienced counsellors in their work with us.
Background Information:
Sue Lambert Trust provides kind, safe, supportive help for people who have experienced sexual or domestic abuse at some point in their lives.
We provide free, specialist support that enables people to recover, heal and build resilience to face the future. Our support is organized around a three-phased trauma informed approach.
Phase One Groundwork is designed to support clients with practical issues as well as providing stabilisation in preparation for counselling. Around 200 clients per year access this service.
Phase Two Counselling is the core provision and is delivered by 50+ trained counsellor volunteers working with around 300 clients weekly.
Phase Three aims to build resilience and includes interventions such as self-help groups.
We are funded by the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioners Office, Ministry of Justice, National Lottery and several local and national Trusts and Foundations.

Job Title:Counselling Support and Development Manager
Responsible to: Head of Counselling
Job purpose:
- To ensure that all counsellors and staff are provided with the skills and knowledge to deliver and develop Sue Lambert Trust services.
- To support the Head of Counselling to manage a team of staff and counsellors in delivering effective, safe and quality counselling and other appropriate therapeutic services.
- To support the Head of Counselling in the development of clinical services, and work collaboratively with the Service Support and Development Manager to implement Trauma Informed Practices (TIP)

Main responsibilities:
Operational Delivery
1. To develop and lead a needs-based plan for the learning and development of the counselling team aligned with Sue Lambert Trust strategy.
2. To organise and manage trainee counsellor placements, working in partnership with counsellor training providers to support and develop trainees in their ongoing training.
3. To act as the Senior Counselling Lead for all trainee counsellors, undertaking case management monthly
4. To work collaboratively to develop and support the implementation of consistent working practices across our sites with a focus on our Great Yarmouth office.
5. To lead on the development and training of a dedicated team of EMDR practitioners.
6. To act as one of the designated safeguarding leads within the organisation, providing support to Senior Counselling Leads and counsellors

Service Delivery
1. To provide one to one counselling and other therapeutic services as appropriate in line with the policies and requirements of the organisation
2. To ensure a skilled clinical team can deliver initial assessments, review and top-up calls, effective allocations, and any other services as directed.
3. To line manage the Senior Counselling Leads based in Great Yarmouth
4. To lead on best practice in clinical service delivery as outlined by BACP guidelines and statutory and regulatory requirements throughout the organisation.
5. To liaise where necessary and appropriate with external supervisors to support counsellors and clients.
Service Development
1. To ensure the clinical team collect client outcome measures and experience of service feedback to inform the ongoing development of the organisation.

PERSON SPECIFICATION – Counselling Support and Development Manager
Qualifications:
1. Minimum Diploma level qualification in counselling
2. Minimum 450 hours clinically supervised counselling experience
3. Achieved or working towards BACP accreditation.
Skills/knowledge required:
1. Experience of planning and implementing a needs-based training and development programme for a team
2. Experience of working and understanding the needs of trainee’s and volunteers within a service

METRO, In partnership with Turning Point, NAZ and London Friend, delivers a model of sexual health support (SASH) throughout the three London boroughs of Hammersmith and Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster. We are looking for a manager to lead the counselling team to deliver high-quality person-centred services within a busy inner London environment. The clients are from diverse communities affected by sexual health and mental health issues, and the role will support staff to work with people from communities such as LGBTQ and Black and Asian Minority Ethnic backgrounds and young people.
[Programme]
METRO, in partnership with Turning Point, NAZ and London Friend, deliver a model of sexual health support throughout the three London boroughs of Hammersmith and Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster. Turning Point is the lead partner for the contract and a matrix staffing model is in place. The post-holder will be line-managed by METRO Head of Mental Health and Wellbeing and work alongside staff from other agencies. They will need to work closely with the Turning Point Operations Manager, contributing to management team meetings, and working
collaboratively with other managers across the service. The role will also be clinically supervised via independent supervisor arranged through METRO.
The post holder will also manage an additional contract under METRO called Cherish Hounslow. This contract is in partnership with NAZ, to deliver groupwork and counselling to LGBTQ+ BAME residents in Hounslow. There will be two posts to line manage in this contract, a group work lead and a counsellor.
[Role]
You will lead the liaison and development of work in the local community to promote referrals and joint working across the client pathway and be responsible for supporting the Operations Manager at Turning Point with reporting on the SASH counselling service. The post-holder will also work with the Head of Youth and Mental Health & Wellbeing, to manage Cherish Hounslow.
You will be required to lead and manage the therapeutic team including direct line management of counsellors for sexual health and HIV, LGBT HIV/Sexual health counsellor (supported by London Friend), Black African and other global majority counselling (supported by NAZ) and volunteers within all aspects of the programme. Also, the post holder will carry out clinical assessments, and recruit and line manage volunteer counsellors to support the programme. The postholder will also carry a small client caseload themselves.
The post holder will ensure the completion of all external and internal monitoring and evaluation requirements, including regular performance reports for funders for both services. This will involve the use of appropriate outcome measuring tools, including CORE, and maintaining good relationships with funders and other external stakeholders and partners through regular communication.

We are also a well-established clinical training placement provider for trainee counsellors and psychotherapists studying with prestigious training organisations in London.

ROLE BACKGROUND:
Youth Enquiry Service (YES) is a charity that has supported young people in High Wycombe and the surrounding areas for over 40 years. We have an established reputation for offering accessible, friendly, and safe services for young people, which includes one-to-one counselling, sexual health information, and drop-in information, advice, and guidance.
This is an exciting time for YES, as we have recently been awarded funding to expand our services as an early-intervention mental health support hub for young people. This expansion will enable us to significantly increase capacity within our pre-existing services, as well as set up several new services including schools-based counselling, peer support groups for young people and for their parents/carers, and a young person’s advisory board who will help shape YES services.

About IKWRO
IKWRO –Women’s Rights Organisation (IKWRO) is an award-winning charity founded (as the Iranian and Kurdish Women’s Rights Organisation) in 2002. IKWRO is a registered charity which provides advice and support to Middle Eastern, North African and Afghan women and girls living in the UK, who have experienced, or are at risk of all forms of “honour” based abuse, including; forced marriage, child marriage and female genital mutilation (FGM), or domestic abuse.
We work with women and girls of all ages, including lesbian women, bisexual women and trans women. We offer services in Kurdish, Farsi, Arabic, Dari, Pashto, Turkish and English. IKWRO offers free advice, advocacy and counselling services and operates a refuge which provides safe accommodation and specialist support to single women at risk of “honour” based abuse, forced marriage and domestic abuse.
IKWRO also provides training for women and girls to help them understand their rights in the UK. In partnership with other organisations, we assist survivors of abuse with accessing English language classes and education, training and employment opportunities.
As well as supporting women and girls directly, we offer advice and training for professionals from the statutory and voluntary sectors, to better understand the needs of the women and girls we represent, the types of abuse they experience and to provide best practice prevention and support services.
We campaign to increase awareness and improve laws and policies to tackle all forms of “honour” based abuse and harmful practices including; forced marriage, child marriage, marital captivity, female genital mutilation, virginity testing and hymenoplasty, discrimination by sharia courts and to push for better laws and policies to protect women’s and girl’s rights.
The post-holder will be required to work in a confidential setting and provide non directive support to improve mental health and social functioning of women who are experiencing different forms of gender based violence. The post-holder will be professionally trained, accredited and work within the BACP/BPS Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions (2018) or equivalent.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
·Provide a service in line with BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) guidelines or equivalent.
·To support the management team with the strategic development of IKWRO’s counselling services.
·The provision of effective and high-quality Counselling and Psychotherapy services to IKWRO’s clients through making use of up to date service standards and IKWRO’s Counselling Guidelines.
·To agree a counselling contract with IKWRO’s clients and provide a timely, responsive and appropriate service.

The TLG Therapeutic Counsellor will be present each week in the school, providing specialist trauma aware care for these children, whilst supporting staff and parents too.

This is an exciting opportunity to provide clinical leadership and supervision to a number of therapeutic services within Richmond Borough Mind. Our developed and respected Psychotherapy and Counselling Service has been providing long-term counselling interventions to local residents since 1988. The service is self-funded and offers a range of therapies which aim to provide individuals with the support and opportunity to work through their difficulties in depth with a skilled and experienced trainee or fully qualified therapist. Sliding scale rates are offered to make sure that we are accessible to all. We also run a number of therapeutic, psychoeducational, support and peer-led one to one sessions and groups, training workshops and other activities.
We are looking for a skilled and qualified (or in advance training) counselling supervisor to provide clinical supervision, leadership, management and service development of our Psychotherapy and Counselling service. Knowledge and understanding of a number of modalities would be an asset. Part of the role will be to help us achieve and maintain BACP or equivalent service accreditation and to grow the service.
As well as having an empathy with the core values of RB Mind, the successful applicant will be a confident and versatile communicator with outstanding relationship-building, organisational and problem-solving skills, and have the ability to provide empathy and guided support to staff, volunteer counsellors, administrators and clients. You will be supported by senior management colleagues and gain a rich experience of low, moderate and more complex cases.

Our BACP accredited Talking Therapies department has been running for over 40 years and we are historically known for providing long term psychodynamic therapy. About the role:

IKWRO –Women’s Rights Organisation (IKWRO) is an award-winning charity founded (as the Iranian and Kurdish Women’s Rights Organisation) in 2002. IKWRO is a registered charity which provides advice and support to Middle Eastern, North African and Afghan women and girls living in the UK, who have experienced, or are at risk of all forms of “honour” based abuse, including; forced marriage, child marriage and female genital mutilation (FGM), or domestic abuse.
We work with women and girls of all ages, including lesbian women, bisexual women and trans women. We offer services in Kurdish, Farsi, Arabic, Dari, Pashto, Turkish and English. IKWRO offers free advice, advocacy and counselling services and operates a refuge which provides safe accommodation and specialist support to single women at risk of “honour” based abuse, forced marriage and domestic abuse.
IKWRO also provides training for women and girls to help them understand their rights in the UK. In partnership with other organisations, we assist survivors of abuse with accessing English language classes and education, training and employment opportunities.

Job Summary
The post-holder will help Farsi speaking women who have experienced Forced Marriage, Female Genital Mutilation and “Honour” Based Violence. Working in a confidential setting, counsellors listen attentively to their clients and offer them the time, empathy and respect they need to express their own feelings, to help them overcome their problems and to make appropriate changes to their life.
The post holder must be BACP or UKCP accredited (or equivalent e.g. HCPC) or training to achieve these accreditation
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Establishing a relationship of trust and respect with clients;
- To undertake high quality direct (assessment and therapeutic) and indirect (consultative, advisory and evaluative) specialist psychological interventions; making autonomous clinical decisions about own professional practice.
- Develops treatment and guidance methods and give guidance using a variety of therapy and counselling techniques;
- To formulate and implement plans of specialist psychological treatment or management of clients’ mental health problems based on an appropriate multi-factorial understanding of the client’s problems and current evidence-based best practice, taking into account the current NICE guidelines.
