Job Purpose: To find and assist Carers in the Knowsley area by providing advice, information, drop-in sessions, facilitating support groups, home visiting, training and a variety of other methods highlighted by Carers in Knowsley.

Duties and Responsibilities

Information and Support

All staff are expected to be familiar with the range of services and events provided by Knowsley Carers Centre.

The Carers Support Officers specifically: -

1) Provide Carers with advice and support to improve the quality of their lives and the person they care for:

This will include:

a) Completing current procedure for Carers’ Assessments and to support Carers through the Assessment process.

b) Offering Carers the opportunity to take up other services offered by KCC such as coffee mornings and Holistic Therapies.

c) Providing an empathetic and supportive ear to Carers about the difficulties they may be experiencing. Remind carers that we are here to provide a listening ear and offer our counselling service if appropriate.

d) To signpost Carers to relevant voluntary and statutory organisations.

2) Keep up-to-date with services, benefits and organisations relevant to Carers.

3) To assist in the promotion of the work of the organisation by use of media, talks, presentations, displays etc.

4) Make links with relevant statutory and voluntary organisations.

5) Use any of the above opportunities to identify hidden Carers and

Casework

1) Work on behalf of Carers both by phone and in writing to help them to obtain the services they need.

2) Make home-visits as necessary to carry out this aspect of the work and initial support to new carers via home visit with the agreement of line manager.

3) Liaise with other advice/advocacy organisations to develop and maintain referral systems.

4) Complete all the necessary administrational tasks related to the role including updating all contacts on the database.

Groups and Events

1) Setting up, administering and facilitating Carers Support Groups.

2) Organise outings and events for Carers. To liaise with the manager to raise small funds to assist with one to one support or group support.

3) Work with other members of the Knowsley Carers Centre staff team to plan, organise and facilitate special events and activities e.g. During National Carers Week.

Administration and Monitoring

1) Complete contacts on the database for every interaction with each carer. All phone calls, drop ins, home visits letters, emails and texts to have a separate contact.

2) Ensure attendees at group events whether in house or at another venue complete the signing in sheet. Complete the register for these events on the database if requested to do so. 

3) Add names to waiting lists for trips and events following the standard procedure. Make appointments for carers to attend holistic therapies following the standard procedure.

4) Write up case studies and other reports as requested by line manager.

5) To be primarily self-servicing including word processing letters, keeping appropriate records of work undertaken, write reports and complete monitoring forms.

6) All of the above are necessary for management to produce statistics and other monitoring reports to comply with funders requests outlined in the main contract and other sources of funding.

General Tasks

1) To work as part of a team contributing to the smooth and effective running of Knowsley Carers Centre.

2) To produce articles for the Carers Centre newsletter and to distribute

to various establishments around Knowsley.

3) To attend and actively participate in regular supervision, team meetings and annual appraisal sessions.

4) To undertake relevant training and staff development activities as required.

5) To undertake occasional evening/weekend work where necessary.

6) To undertake any other duties as reasonably requested by the Centre Manager.

The Health Link Worker will provide a conduit between Knowsley Carers Centre, health and social care teams and appropriate networks and forums that support carers’ interests.

The Health Link Worker will:

• Provide information for and about carers and young carers to GP practices and health and social care teams.
• Assist in maintaining carers’ information boards in GP practices and at other health and social care locations.
• Continue to promote good practice guidance and steer relevant personnel at GP practices and other health settings through the guidance framework.
• Provide presentations, training and talks to health and social care staff on carers needs and include all aspects of caring within the awareness raising.
• Raise carer awareness in hospitals and develop carer friendly processes.
• Encourage carer participation on forums, groups and boards.

• Assist in the delivery of carer awareness training in partnership with other members of the team.

For over 40 years, Being There, a medium sized charity, has provided practical, emotional and social support to those affected by life limiting illnesses across much of Greater Manchester. The services of the charity are delivered by an enthusiastic cohort of volunteers managed by an established and capable management team.

After steering Being There though the Pandemic and the recent economic impact on charities, our long serving CEO, Karen Mercer, is retiring. We are therefore looking to recruit a new leader for our team.

The Access Foundation is focused on making a real difference to people’s lives by awarding grants to charities which make a valuable and measurable positive impact.  Our grant giving objectives fall into three categories: 

1. to mitigate the digital divide by making computing facilities, support and learning available to disadvantaged and vulnerable people

The Foundation aims to achieve this via a fund from which it awards grants to other charitable organisations aligned with the principles above. You are a key member or the team that works towards our target to award grants to a total value of +/- £2 million each year.

The Access Foundation was set up in 2021 following the success and growth enjoyed by The Access Group over the previous decade. While affiliated with The Access Group in terms of its identity, The Access Foundation is a separate organisation, governed by an independent board of trustees and with its own objectives and goals. 

The Access Foundation wants to fund projects and activities that make a real difference to people’s lives in the countries the Access group is active.To achieve our objectives, we are looking to appoint an experienced Operations Manager to help run and improve our operational processes.

Job objectives 

• Support the trustees in the due diligence and evaluation of each applicant and facilitate the decision-making process for each application 

• Support the ongoing evaluation process of all successful applicants and ensure agreed measures and outcomes are reported back to the Foundation in a timely manner 

• Manage the external communication of the Foundation’s successes back to stakeholders and supporters, as well as other channels on social media, such as Instagram and LinkedIn 

• Manage the communication with the Access Group and maintain an open channel of communication with the charities team at the Access group 

• Manage the Admin and Grants Assistant and ensure all Admin processes as well as operational processes are running smoothly and make changes where required

• Write regular reports to the trustees of new applications, applications in progress and outcomes, inform and advise the trustees to achieve a swift decision on all cases

• Liase with the Access Marketing team to support their own comms 

• Ensure financial accounts are accurate and complete 

• Liase with 3rd parties such as external suppliers and partners ranging from auditors to our financial partners

• Recruit, Manage and Appraise the Admin and Grant Assistant

• Attend trustees, volunteers and applications meetings

Skills and Experience Required

• A minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role 

• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships at all levels from junior to CEO 

• Computer literate with good knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook.

You will be skilled in delivering low intensity therapy, with the ability to organise and prioritise your own workload, and will have successfully completed an approved IAPT PWP Post Graduate Certificate (or be near to qualification with all elements of the course successfully passed/on track to qualify on time).

Blackburn & Darwen Youth Zone is a youth hub and a community operating from a modern facility in the heart of Blackburn and is open seven days a week, 52 weeks a year. With a membership of over 5,000 young people, they are dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and creating a brighter future for their youth community.

The Youth Zone provides somewhere for young people to go, something to do, and someone to talk to. The new 2024-2029 strategy, developed with young people, will ensure the Youth Zone reaches even more young people and a successful new grant of £3 million will see a new World of Work centre at the heart of young people's life journey.

The Targeted Service Manager will play a pivotal role in leading a dedicated team to support young people facing unique challenges. From socio-economic barriers to mental health issues, this role will be to create a nurturing environment which empowers individuals to overcome obstacles and reach their full potential.

Key responsibilities:

• You will lead a team to delivering high-quality support programmes tailored to the diverse needs of the Blackburn & Darwen community's youth.
• You will collaborate with stakeholders and partners to build a network of resources and services.
• You will champion safeguarding and child protection, ensuring no need is left unmet.
• You will manage team performance, ensuring accuracy in monitoring and reporting activities.
• You will drive improvements through data analysis and strategic planning.

The Targeted Services Manager will have significant experience working with vulnerable children or young people, including at management level, with experience dealing with child protection and safeguarding concerns and knowledge of Child Protection legislation. The successful candidate will be able to undertake needs assessments, a multi-agency approach to addressing the needs of young people and keep accurate records for monitoring and review purposes. You will be a confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills. You will have experience of delivering group activities, communicating effectively and sensitively with children, young people and adults, and experience of building, managing and sustaining relationships. You will have good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise work, meet deadlines and work under pressure. The ideal candidate will have experience of managing volunteers or mentors to support the personal and social development of children and young people, but this is not essential.

The role is full time. You will need to be committed to working flexible hours which may involve some evening and weekend work. Alzheimer’s Society Local Services teams provide exceptional information, advice and guidance for people affected by dementia.  As a Local Services Manager, you will be home based, leading and inspiring geographically dispersed teams, whilst working as part of a wider Area Management Team, to deliver these fantastic services. 

As a Local Services Manager you will have the rewarding opportunity to manage dementia services across the ten boroughs of Greater Manchester. 

You will provide local operational leadership and management to support the Regional Manager to deliver the Society’s strategy. The role will lead local delivery of high quality, person-centred, safe and secure dementia services and lead the implementation of operational business management systems.  You will champion the delivery of quality in everything we do, ensuring that people affected by dementia are at the heart of our service delivery.

About you
You will have a strong working experience of the Health and Social Care sector and have experience of leading teams to deliver high performance outcomes to excellent quality standards, including through periods of significant change. As we support many diverse groups across the Greater Manchester area, particularly within the South Asian Community, we would encourage applicants that are bi-lingual or multi-lingual to apply. Examples of additional languages within these communities are typically Urdu, Punjabi, Hindi and Bengali.
